a follow-up on my post on the future of Web 2/3.0 and my arguments on applying social software in areas that support a social, ecological and economical sustainable development of our society. Alhough Web 2.0 is brining forward a structure of networked individualism I would like to see the stress here on the network, not only on the individual.
The editor names a few examples of Web 2.0 in socially relevant contexts:
… many nonprofits are taking advantage of similar new tools. Homelessnation, which has outreach teams in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto enables ordinary people to create videos of the stories of homeless people. GlobalVoices, co-founded by Ethan Zuckerman, aggregates the best reports from bloggers from around the world about serious issues in their home countries. (Even Mal Warwick, the guru on the oldest technologies in the world, direct mail, has started a podcast.)
