Teilnehmer – Barcamp Vienna September 28, 2006
Posted by kieslinger in : Uncategorized , trackbackthe barcamp vienna is taking place before this years blogtalk conference, the blogtalk reloaded. unfortunately I will not be able to attend the blogtalk conference as I will be in Crete at the ec-tel06 during that time. so I thought that maybe the barcamp would be a good opportunity to meet some of the people who are going to attend the conference. anyway, when looking at the participants list of the barcamp, I realised that it would be more precise to say, that I would meet some men there. where are the female barcampers I am wondering? are there any around in vienna? I suppose. are they not interested in attending a barcamp. does it sound like an old boys club? or is it intended to be one? (I don’t think so). or is Michaela Sburny from the Austrian Green Party really right when saying that women do not want to socialise after work and do not want to have a beer with colleages? When I heard the other day that statement during a discussion on female researchers and their career opportunities, I felt a strong disagreement (although I agreed with her on many other aspects). actually I do like to go for A beer after work from time to time. so why not attending also a barcamp on a weekend? I will think about registering ;-P
